The difference between Fraxel re:pair & Fraxel re:store
Fraxel re:pair & Fraxel
re:store are two of our most popular laser skin treatments at Prèface Cosmetic.
They may sound similar, however they actually serve different purposes and are
used to achieve different outcomes.
So what’s the difference?
Fraxel re:pair
Fraxel re:pair is a revolutionary
ablative CO2 laser used for skin resurfacing. It’s what we consider to be the ultimate skin
resurfacing treatment. It’s usually a once-off treatment that addresses visible
signs of ageing, tone, texture and pigmentation.
Fraxel re:pair is especially
good for softening deep winkles and fine lines. Old and damaged skin cells are
removed, stimulating your body’s own natural healing process, leaving you with
a fresh, glowing appearance.
In a single treatment, it addresses:
- Skin tone and texture
- Wrinkles and fine lines
- Soften deep frown lines and
furrows
- Improve the appearance of
age spots, sun spots and scars
At Preface Cosmetic, we are
able to customise your Fraxel re:pair treatment to address your unique needs, concerns
and problem areas whether they are deep in your skin layers or on the skin’s
surface. The results are focused, effective and long lasting.
Treatment Details
Fraxel re:pair requires a
twilight anaesthetic and has a downtime of 2-4 weeks, although redness may
persist for longer.
What to expect after Fraxel re:pair treatment:
Straight after the treatment most
patients report a sense of heat sensation, mild swelling, tightness and in some
cases pinpoint bleeding.
Over the next few days skin
swelling will reduce and the skin will start to peel. This is where the old
damaged skin comes off as it is being replaced with fresh new cells underneath.
Most of the peeling will be
complete after 2 weeks as the skin continues to heal.
Fraxel re:store
Fraxel re:store dual wavelength
1927/1550 is a non-ablative laser skin procedure that offers separate laser
wavelengths.
The term non-ablative means
that the top layers of skin are not removed. Instead
the laser works by heating micro-columns of skin, which in turn stimulates new
natural collagen production.
The Fraxel re:store treatment
differs to the Fraxel re:pair laser (a complete ablative skin-resurfacing
laser) offering a less abrasive treatment with minimal downtime.
Depending on the individual’s
skin rejuvenation goals and specific skin concern, the dual wavelengths
(1927/1550) are commonly combined over a course of multiple treatments that are
performed a few weeks apart.
Fraxel re:store 1927
The 1927 laser wavelength
achieves gentle resurfacing with downtime of 3 – 4 days. This treatment is
effective for improving tone, texture and pigmentation such as sun spots,
freckles and pre-cancerous lesions.
How does the Fraxel re:store 1927 wavelength
work?
The Fraxel re:store 1927 uses
patented fractional technology to target damaged skin with microscopic laser
columns that penetrate superficial skin layers. The laser treats only a
fraction of tissue at a time, leaving the surrounding tissue untouched to
promote rapid healing. Old and damaged cells are replaced by fresh, glowing,
healthy skin therefore some peeling is common.
Fraxel re:store 1550
The 1550 wavelength is a
deeper treatment, without a peel and a shorter downtime of 2 – 3 days. As this
treatment penetrates the deeper layers of skin, it improves the appearance of
acne scars, surgical scars, fine lines and wrinkles.
How does the Fraxel re:store 1550 wavelength
work?
The Fraxel re:store 1550 also
uses patented fractional technology to target damaged skin with microscopic
laser columns that penetrate deep into the skin. Depending on the level of the
treatment, patients may experience some redness or swelling which will diminish
after several days.
Fraxel re:store treatments
help keep you looking and feeling fabulous with smoother, fresher looking skin,
improved tone, texture and pigmentation, reduced pore size and a great way to
uncover the youthful skin you long for.
It's also the gold standard
treatment for acne scarring and scarring in general.
Fraxel re:pair and Fraxel
re:store are not suitable for all
patients. Please consult your practitioner to see if Fraxel is suitable for
you.
